FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
What’s involved in the tree removal process?
During the process, licensed tree removal technicians use special equipment to cut the tree into a series of sections from the top to the bottom. This may be less thrilling than a giant chop at the base of the tree, but much better. You never know where the tree is going to land!
Do I need a permit to remove a tree?
Perhaps. Some municipalities in the region still need permission to cut trees. Sometimes it depends on the size and position of the tree, whether the tree is a threat, whether it is a street tree, an invasive species, etc. The Omaha Tree Services arborists will help you decide if the permits apply and assist you in obtaining them.
Do I have to be home for the removal process?
No, no. As long as you are able to allow the contractors access to the house, you do not need to be at home for the operation.
How much will the service cost?
The price of tree removal is based on a variety of factors. The height of the tree plays a very important role. The diameter is significant, too. Other considerations include the state of the tree, how easily accessible it is, what you would want to do with the trunk and branches after removal, and whether or not you want stump grinding. You would have to pay for the mileage and travel time, too. The removal process will cost anything from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars. Don’t make a mistake: this work is complicated, time-consuming and risky.
Is it OK to remove trees close to the house?
A tall tree near your house will provide valuable shade and shelter, as well as spectacular beauty and drama. Often, however, the nearby tree can pose a serious danger. Growing branches will scratch and crack the side or roof of the building. The build-up of leaves and sticks on the roof will lead to rotting. The roots of a large tree will kill the foundation of your house, causing cracking and other problems.
A tree near the house can require more careful preparation and removal work, but it can be done safely by a professional tree service company.
Why should I prune my trees?
Trees must be pruned for a variety of reasons, including protection, aesthetics and tree health. Broken or dead branches can be dangerous if they fall – sometimes without warning, even on a quiet day! If the branches of a tree grow too wide for a tree or are too close to your roof or chimney, they need to be pruned and cleared to prevent them from damaging your house. From an esthetic point of view, pruning will help make the tree look better or give you a better view of your property or horizon. If you’re thinking of pruning a tree, make sure to use a Professional Arborist. Unqualified and uneducated staff will harm your trees and property.
What is a Licensed Arborist?
A Licensed Arborist has a large knowledge base on tree and wood plant care, pesticides, planting safety and related technical issues. In order to become a Licensed Arborist in Nebraska, the Nebraska Arborists Association must pass a challenging and lengthy test. The International Society of Arboriculture is providing a similarly challenging review both in the United States and abroad. At Omaha Tree Services, we employ a variety of Certified Arborists as part of our commitment to industry experience and standards. Insist on recruiting tree and plant health care companies with these certifications while you are looking for expert services.
